Open Office Privacy Booth

Modern workplaces engineer nonstop enforced togetherness in the name of culture and productivity, then repackage basic privacy as a scarce, premium amenity. The satire targets corporate hypocrisy: creating the problem and branding the temporary relief as innovation.

A sleek, overdesigned open-plan office stretches wall to wall with identical desks packed so tightly that employees nearly elbow each other while wearing headsets and forcing polite smiles. Giant inspirational slogans dominate the walls—COLLABORATE, BE TOGETHER, OPENNESS WINS. In the exact center, lit like a luxury feature, stands a tiny glass booth labeled PRIVATE CALL / WELLNESS POD. A long, airport-style queue of workers snakes toward it, each person clutching a laptop, coffee, and stress ball, visibly desperate for two minutes alone. One employee exiting the booth looks blissfully reborn, while those still waiting stare at the pod as if it were an oasis. The booth should feel absurdly small yet treated as the office’s premium perk.
