Freedom, Badge-In Required

Corporate culture packages freedom, wellness, and individuality as mandatory, time-boxed activities—turning self-expression into a monitored productivity ritual.

In a sterile open-plan office, a glowing neon sign over a carefully decorated selfie corner reads “LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE.” The setup includes fake plants, a ring light, and a branded hashtag plaque near the break room. A neat queue of employees in lanyards and business-casual attire waits on floor marks like an airport line, each person still juggling a laptop, coffee, ID badge, and marked-up meeting agenda. Off to the side, a cheerful manager with a clipboard checks off names on a schedule titled “Self-Expression Slots, 3-Minute Limit,” while a wall clock and calendar reminders emphasize the rigid timing. One employee at the front forces a big smile for the photo while clearly exhausted, underscoring that even personal authenticity has become another managed office task.
