Ceasefire on Melting Ice

The cartoon mocks geopolitical seriousness that treats climate breakdown as a strategic business opportunity. Leaders congratulate themselves for peacefully managing the spoils of environmental collapse while ignoring that the 'prize' is literally disintegrating beneath them.

At an ornate 'Arctic Peace Summit,' several rival leaders in decorated military uniforms solemnly hunch over a conference table that is not placed on an iceberg but carved out of it. Across the ice-table lies a glowing map of newly opened Arctic sea routes, and each leader carefully draws ceasefire boundaries with rulers and fountain pens as if stabilizing the region. Around them, aides enthusiastically stamp treaties, adjust flags, and angle photographers for a triumphant handshake shot. Meanwhile the iceberg itself is actively collapsing: fissures run through the tabletop, one corner has already broken off into the sea, chairs are sliding downhill, and a polar bear in the distance rides a tiny fragment away. The leaders remain absorbed in diplomacy over control of a landscape that exists only because their broader failure made it melt.
